Nursing Philosophy And Career Goals

ABSTRACT:
3 pages in length. Nursing, a profession that was decidedly more of the female persuasion in the mid-eighteen hundreds, has long been considered an extension of a woman's natural ability to nurture. Had it not been for Florence Nightingale's attempts to humanize the medical profession in the nineteenth century, there is no telling where contemporary society would be with regard to humane and appropriate medical care. Fast forward to the twenty-first century and it is clear how nurses play an integral role in the overall development and application of standards of care, the transmission of scientific and humanistic caring, professional performance, ethics, as well as the level of competency expected from the industry.
